Deadly Lies (Angus Brodie and Mikaela Forsythe Murder Mystery Book 10)

About

The horrible murder of a young woman once strikes fear into the hearts of women across London…

An anguished young man’s plea for help to find the one responsible for his fiance’s death…

A young girl drawn into the murder who may become the next victim…

There are no answers. There is only that red rose, left on the young woman’s body, and the terrifying possibility that a cold-blooded murderer who left a trail of dead women in the East End a handful of years earlier once more stalks the streets of London.

Is it the work of the Whitechapel murderer? Or is it someone else?

The victim is from a respectable family. Except for that one fatal wound, the body was left intact. Nor was it a robbery as the young lady’s watch pinned to her shirtwaist was untouched. There was only that one possible clue, that red rose left behind like a calling card.

However, the case is highly personal. The young woman was an accomplished musician and gave lessons to ladies of society, most particularly Lily, Mikaela and Brodie’s young ward.

The murder once again puts everyone on alert across London. Women are warned not to go out unescorted while Mikaela and Brodie delve into a complex case and discover this may not be the murderer’s first victim.

Then, another body is found, once again adorned with a red rose, and Lady Antonia Montgomery, Mikaela’s great aunt, insists that they take up the inquiry case when the police come up empty-handed.

Motive, means, opportunity. Something Mikaela has learned in her work with Brodie that can provide the answers.
But as Brodie and Mikaela close in on the identity of the murderer, he will strike yet again.

Since arriving in London, Lily has acquired an education, an appreciation for Lady Antonia’s ancestors including a fascination for that sword room at Sussex Square, and she made friends with the young woman who gave her music lessons.

Street-wise, unafraid, very much like her guardian, Lily is determined to help Brodie and Mikaela find the person responsible for her friend’s murder.

But as more clues are revealed, it seems the killer may have already chosen his next victim when Lily doesn’t return from an outing across the city and a red rose is received with a note that she “
shouldn’t have interfered”.

Where is she? Is she still alive? Will they be able to find her in time and stop the killer?
